For a minute, take out of the equation whether transwomen are women or not, yes, the clerk was rude, we both agree with that. Secondly, if clerk misgendered the transwoman in question, and the transwoman pointed that out, a simple apology from the clerk would have been the most appropriate action, again, whether me, you or the clerk sees the transwoman as a woman or not.
You’ve said that you yourself have been misgendered, and while that has annoyed or upset you, you’ve dealt with it your way, you’re secure in your womanhood. If the transwoman you’re talking about is the one in the photos above, then I wouldn’t have assumed she was trans, however, I would refer to the customer as I perceived them, and if they told me I was wrong in that perception, I would make the relevent corrections, I’ve done that before when I misgendered someone while I was working in a call centre, and I immediately apologised, and that’s the issue here. Did the clerk do their job properly being polite and courteous, and it seemed that she didn’t. Did the transwoman cause enough of a fuss to warrant being asked to leave, neither of us know the answer to that, but how much of a fuss would someone have to kick up for them to be asked to leave would depend on the people involved.
For the transwoman to sue, I would hope, that she had been treated really badly, but we live in a world where you sue first it seems, and common sense has left the building.
I know that when I’m misgendered, which doesn’t happen often now, it’s upsetting, it affects my confidence and generally puts me off balance a bit.
At the end of the day, a bit of respect for each other goes a long way, and doesn’t cost anyone anything.
“Being a woman is not about spending thousands I agree, it is about conviction, courage and standing up to patriarchy and the glass ceiling. It is about finding Leda and the Swan disgusting and hating violations of womankind, or indeed mankind. But, transwomen have to work to attain what non trans women have from birth. For the record, I have never spent thousands, I don’t have it to spend.”
A news item from Fort Worth, Texas crossed my inbox recently. Teresa Cross, a Transgender Woman, attempted to shop at a store. When Teresa asked if she could use her debit card, the clerk stated that “he” could not. This act bothered Teresa because “she’s a Woman.”

Why are radfems so obsessed with rape?
i have been watching with interest an ongoing discussion (on tumblr!!) about rape, and what it is and isnt. tumblr isnt my natural habitat, and im not interested in even trying to figure it out at this juncture, although if someone can show me how tumblr *isnt* primarily a huge gynergy-sucking waste of time (and not coincidentally, another way for privileged males to look busy at work while not actually doing anything) im all ears. srsly, i h8 tumblr! h8 it!
anyhoo, im trying to get my head around all the issues being raised here — despite this conversation essentially being a thought-terminating mindfuck (thanks tumblr! thanks men and trans and MRAs and pomos and hopeless reformists and baby feminists talking primarily out of their asses in short-form dialog in a nonradical mixed space). jeebus i hate tumblr so much. srsly, is it just me?
earlier, i proposed my own…

Because transwomen are women you idiot!
NGLTF used to recognize women-only space and didn’t actively and relentlessly seek to destroy it.
Trans activists have turned women-only space as something akin to Nazism or the KKK.

A few years ago, my niece told me that “you can’t do that, girls don’t do that kind of thing”, now I can’t remember exactly what it is that she should I shouldn’t do, and my reply to her was, “of course girls can do that kind of thing”, but I posted details of it on a yahoogroup I’m on, and I think they misunderstood the point I was trying to make, but, my niece is currently 12 years old. At the time, I was thinking, “why is she thinking this is something I shouldn’t be doing?”, that kind of attitude is not one I would expect from someone so young. The attitude I would have expected would be the exact opposite, to ask why I or she shouldn’t do something, simply based on your sex / gender. It did bring up an interesting point that made me think – I’ve switched one set of gender role or expectation, for another, and it’s not me that want’s these roles or expectations, but other people, ie society, is making these expectations of me, simply because of my sex / gender, and is that something that is right or wrong? Well, to put it another way, below is a list of other expectations we might all have, feel free to add your own listing the reasons .
British people drink more tea than coffee, Americans drink more coffee than tea, and the French drink wine more often that other nationalities – all these seem to be cultural things.
Ok, I could only think of one, but that expectation is neither positive or negative, it simply is what it is, no ulterior motive, no conspiracy theory.
Cathy Brenana has been sent a paypal invoice for £100 for the unauthorised use of my private images that we’re hosted on my FaceBook profile. She posted said photos of me without my consent on her blog “Pretendbians” and has so far refused to remove the images or the blog post. It is currently 12:15pm in the UK. If the post and images are still in place in 24 hours time, then a second paypal invoice will be raised, and a 3rd, 4th 5th etc, until such posts and images are removed. She may comply with DCMA rulings, but she is a repeat offender who will post unauthorised images of people time and time again. If you have a similar issue with her, I suggest you also send her a paypal invoice to the following email address of email@example.com if this isn’t or ceases to become her email address, please post details of her new / current email address below this post.
I’m sorry Brennan, but when I need to go pee, I go to the toilets, ie the ladies if I’m out somewhere, and that’s all I do, pee or poo. What do you do in there, and really, wtf do you think I do in there?
